R102.7 Existing structures.

R102.7.1 Additions, alterations or repairs.

Additions, alterations or repairs to any structure shall conform to the requirements for a new structure without requiring the existing structure to comply with all of the requirements of this code, unless otherwise stated. Additions, alterations or repairs shall not cause an existing structure to become unsafe or adversely affect the performance of the building.

R101.8 Requirements of other State agencies, occupational licensing boards and commissions The North Carolina State Building Codes do not include all additional requirements for building and structures that may be imposed by other State agencies, occupational licensing boards and commissions. It will be the responsibility of a permit holder, registered design professional, contractor, or occupational license holder to determine whether any additional requirements exists.
